120 reasons to celebrate: The French Chamber of Great Britain launches 2024 Franco-British Business Awards

The English Channel is the natural split between two people, the French and the British, brotherly nations who have been through fights, feuds, and friendship.

Former enemies turned close friends, their shared destiny was always written in what separates them: the English Channel.

In French, the Channel is called “La Manche”, which directly translates to “The Sleeve”. This name has proven to be the testimony of a European joined destiny. The close collaboration of these two countries has led to thriving ecosystems for both of them, and is continuously growing, making The Sleeve more than just the hand of friendship, but a Channel through which ideas, wealth and dreams are perpetually being exchanged.

Entente, Achievements and Awards

The 25th Franco-British Business Awards will celebrate the outstanding achievements of French and British companies on both sides of the Channel.

The French Chamber of Great Britain was established in 1883 (21 years before the Entente Cordiale even existed!) and is one of the most active business networks in the UK. With over 400 companies of all sizes and sectors in its membership, it is the hub of key relationships, conversations, insights and support for Franco-British business.

The awards are open to all French or British businesses active in the UK, and businesses from all sectors can apply, regardless of their size or their resources.

This year’s five categories reflect the priorities of the French Chamber and of its community.

The Fantastic Five

The following awards will recognise those that have gone above and beyond to support their people and communities, foster innovation, make progress on climate action, and, of course, nurture the Franco-British relationship.

People & Community: This award will recognise initiatives that bring positive change for people within the organisation, as well as contribute to the communities we serve.

Sustainable Future: This award will recognise initiatives that focus on sustainability, clean growth, renewable energy, waste or the environment.

Innovation & Technology: This award will recognise the best of innovation and technology, including digital and AI transformations, advanced new products or systems, or the creative use of existing technology.

Small Business: This award will recognise the best new and established small businesses that are driving innovation, growth and prosperity.

Entente Cordiale: As this year marks the 120th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale, this award will recognise initiatives that have encouraged or been built through bilateral ties, showcase examples of Franco-British cooperation that have driven economic or social value, and celebrate business successes resulting from cross-channel collaborations or teamwork.

As this year marks the 120th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale, these awards will be particularly special, commemorating a century and two decades of strong and enduring cooperation between France and Britain.

The applications will open on the 22 May 2024 and close on 12 July 2024. The awards ceremony will be held on 20 November 2024 in London.

Membership of the French Chamber of Great Britain is not necessary to apply and the application process is free.
