UK’s cheapest destination for a last-minute Easter staycation
Desperate for a last-minute Easter staycation? Don’t worry, because the expert travel team at Which? Travel have shared the best value spots for a UK spring break.
The team looked at 14,000 one, two and three-bedroom properties available to rent from holiday providers.
On average, a week’s stay in a cottage in the UK costs £800 but the team found several regions were cheaper than that.
Although last-minute bookings can be more expensive, the team said they found prices were roughly the same as in September.
So where is the cheapest staycation destination for an Easter break?
According to Which?’ research, the cheapest staycation spot for an Easter break was Shropshire at £675 on average for a week.
Situated near the Welsh border, Shropshire has some gorgeous nature as well as historic landmarks including Ludlow Castle.
Don’t miss the Iron Bridge and Tollhouse, a marvel of the Industrial Revolution and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Herefordshire and Durham/Tyne and Wear were the next cheapest destinations for Brits, both coming in at under £700 for a week’s stay.
The Scottish Borders was Scotland’s cheapest destination while the (Bannau Brycheiniog) Brecon Beacons topped the list in Wales.
At the other end of the scale, the Outer Hebrides and Hampshire were the most expensive places for a week’s cottage stay.
