Bake Off star, 84, blows fans away looking like ‘Bond Girl’ in throwback picture
A throwback picture of a Great British Bake Off judge from the 70s has sent the internet into meltdown.
The Channel 4 show’s official Instagram account account delighted fans after unearthing an arrchive picture of Dame Prue Leith, 84, in her younger years.
In the black and white image, Dame Prue with cropped dark hair looks sensational in a slip dress and extravagant diamond earrings as she props up a bar.
Social media user @ohimara said she looked like she belonged in a James Bond film, commenting: ‘Looking like a Bond Girl.’
Echoing their sentiments, @socky_socks exclaimed: ‘Total knockout then and now!’
lizabandco agreed the broadcaster has always had the X Factor, saying: ‘Wow! What a knock out! But she’s still as stunning today as in the 70s.’
@chrissy_niree added: ‘She DEF has some juicy stories!’
GBBO shared the picture of Dame Prue with the caption: ‘Of course Prue looked this glammy in the 1970s. #GBBO.’
Dame Prue has been dazzling her admirers for decades – most recently with a daring new look on the runway.
Earlier this year, the TV star was a surprise model for the Vin + Omi show at London fashion week.
She wore an eye-catching black leather dress with dominatrix-style slits from the base to the breast area, which was tied up with red laces, and matching gloves.
For her makeup, the chef, who usually opts for a more subtle and natural look, wore a black smokey eye, bright red lipstick, and dishevelled hair.
Prior to The Great British Bake Off, Dame Prue was a judge on BBC cookery show The Great British Menu for 11 years, before stepping down in 2016.
The South African-born cook has written a dozen books, most famously Leith’s Cookery Bible, which was penned as a textbook for her school and is frequently updated.
Leith’s School of Food and Wine, which trains professional chefs and amateur cooks, was founded in the 1970s.
Famous alumni include Lorraine Pascale, Gizzi Erskine and Matt Tebbutt, as well as Michelin-star chefs including Joe Mercer Nairne and Matt Christmas.
She kicked of her career by training at Le Cordon Bleu cookery school in London and worked as a caterer before opening her restaurant in west London in 1969.
Bake Off continues on Channel 4 tomorrow at 8pm.
