Andy Murray prolongs tennis career after another thrilling doubles win at Olympics

Andy Murray has prolonged his tennis career after winning another dramatic three-set doubles match at the Olympics.

Sir Andy and partner Dan Evans beat Belgium’s Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen in the second round.

They won the first set 6-3, lost 7-6 in the second and won the decider 11-9.

The British pair have now reached the quarter-finals in Paris.

Sir Andy said before the Olympics it would be his last tournament.

Ahead of the Games, the two-time gold medallist also withdrew from the men’s singles competition.

Just a few weeks earlier, Murray’s Wimbledon career came to an end after he was first knocked out of the men’s doubles with brother Jamie, and then his mixed partner Emma Raducanu pulled out after suffering a stiff wrist.

It comes after Murray and Evans won in a similar fashion in the last round against Japan’s Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori.

The British duo clung on and managed to win their doubles opener in three sets despite facing five match points.
