Beautiful UK seaside village home to ‘best crab sandwich’ and a gorgeous beach

Located on the South coast in Devon, South Milton is a charming village of only 371 residents, and has lent its name to the nearby beach of South Milton sands.

The parish, only 1.8 miles away, or a seven-minute drive from the beach, includes the quaint hamlets of Sutton, south of the village, and Upton, north of the village, and is part of the bigger town of Kingsbridge.

South Milton sands boasts golden sands and beautiful rock pools, and is a popular destination for anyone who enjoys the beautiful British seaside.

The bay, protected within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural beauty, is part of the National Trust.

It is also home to the famous Thurlestone Rock, a natural archway, as well as countless species of birds and wildlife in the wetlands.

As with many areas in South Devon, South Milton sands is also an ideal place to fish, with regular catches served at the Beachhouse cafe, named the best beach shack restaurant in the UK by CN Traveller

According to Tripadvisor reviews, their crab sandwich in particular has seemed to delight patrons.

One person write in their online review: “All the seafood is local and fresh. The half lobster was so good and the mussels were tender and flavourful.

“The crab sandwiches were very tasty and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. The king prawns were what they should be, large and succulent.”

Another said: “The crab sandwich was one of the best I have had. Gorgeous crab meat seasoned to perfection in a beautiful roll.

“The staff are lovely, super friendly and clearly like working there (who wouldn’t with those views!). Gorgeous coffee and lots of choice. No complaints at all!”
