British Open live updates: Scottie Scheffler in the mix; Bryson DeChambeau misses cut
Scottie Scheffler is lurking near the top of the leaderboard.
On a day where many struggled, including Tiger Woods and Dallas products Bryson DeChambeau and Jordan Spieth, Scheffler shot a 1-under 70 for a second straight day in the second round of the British Open on Friday. He entered the third round on Saturday just five strokes back of leader Shane Lowry.
After the second round, DeChambeau, Will Zalatoris, Ludvig Åberg and Tom Kim all missed the cut.
Below we’ll be keeping track of Scheffler and all of the other players from North Texas as they compete in the British Open.

2024 British Open
T6. Scottie Scheffler (-2, thru 2)
The top player in the world was a massive favorite entering the tournament. The two-time Masters winner is still searching for his first British Open title.
T28. Tom Hoge (+2, thru 7)
The TCU product missed the cut at the British Open the last two years. He is hoping to see the weekend for the first time at this event.
T50. Abraham Ancer (+5, F)
The native Texan and former Sooner, who is now on the LIV Golf tour, was only one stroke away from a top-10 finish in The 150th Open at St Andrews two years ago. He had a standout collegiate career at Oklahoma before turning pro in 2013.
T50. Jordan Spieth (+5, thru 12)
The 2017 Open champion from Dallas has struggled at the first three majors of the year, including a missed cut at The Masters.
CUT. Will Zalatoris (+7, F)
The Plano native is still finding his footing as he returns from a serious back injury which forced him to miss The Open in 2023.
CUT. Ludvig Åberg (+9, F)
Åberg has burst onto the PGA Tour scene since leaving Texas Tech and turning pro. This is his first British Open.
CUT. Bryson DeChambeau (+9, F)
The SMU product won his second U.S. Open at golf’s last major event at Pinehurst. His best British Open finish came in 2022 (T8).
CUT. Tom Kim (+11, F)
The Dallas resident finished in a tie for second place at the British Open last year.
