Trawling through airline and hotel websites can feel like a chore, but it’s worth it to find the best holiday deals.

There are few better feelings than ticking off a bucket-list destination, and even better if you’ve managed to save money while doing it.

And while the Black Friday holiday deals might have been and gone, that doesn’t mean you’ve lost out on the chance to grab a bargain, it’s just about knowing where to look and when to book.

Justyna Chlopecka, from leading adventure group travel brand WeRoad, told Metro: ‘This year, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in bookings to destinations that offer a mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation. Morocco, with its rich history and warm winter climate, continues to captivate travellers, while the Nordics are a top choice for those chasing the magic of the Northern Lights or indulging in active, snowy itineraries.

‘Further afield, Vietnam and Sri Lanka are drawing in British tourists with their lush landscapes, vibrant cultures, and pristine beaches, making them ideal for a tropical escape. The USA also remains a popular pick, with diverse experiences from city breaks to nature-focused adventures.

‘This trend reflects a growing desire among British travellers at WeRoad to make their getaways more meaningful, exploring destinations that offer both memorable experiences and a deeper connection to the world.’

If you don’t have anywhere specific in mind for your next trip but know you want it to be cheap, then price comparison sites like Skyscanner and Google Flights can help.

For example, Skyscanner’s ‘cheapest month’ search option makes it easy to find the absolute cheapest month of the year to visit destinations the world over.

For those wondering, December is currently the cheapest month to fly to Sri Lanka, with prices starting from £348.

Barcelona, Tenerife, Dubai and Vietnam are all cheapest to travel to in January, with Skyscanner showing return flights from £25, £28, £186 and £360 respectively.

February is the best time of year to head to Bangkok if you want to bag a bargain flight, with prices starting from £393.

Meanwhile, March is currently the cheapest month to fly to New York, with prices starting from £236 for a return trip.

Elsewhere in the USA, San Francisco and Chicago are the cheapest to fly to in February, with prices starting at £347 and £316 respectively. Flights from £265 are available to Orlando in March.

For travellers planning a trip to Morocco in 2025, Skyscanner has found flights for just £27 in January, February and March.

Flight prices are for economy class tickets, return from UK airports, correct at time of sharing.

How to find the best holiday deals

Flight comparison sites like Skyscanner, Kayak, Kiwi and Google Flights can all help you find the best deal, but there are plenty of other hacks for getting cheap flights and hotels worth trying too.

  • Travel during the off-season: Flights and accommodation are generally cheaper outside of peak times, so avoid booking during the summer holidays if you can.
  • Sign up for marketing emails: Subscribing to newsletters or price alerts from airlines and comparison sites will ensure you’re first to know when a good deal comes along.
  • Be flexible with your dates: Just like certain times of year are cheaper, some days of the week are cheaper to fly on too. It’s also often cheaper to book last minute, if you can.
  • Know when the sales are on: Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Travel Tuesday and Sunshine Saturday are all sale events that see some holiday providers slash their prices.

And if you’re booking cheap flights such as these, you’ll need somewhere to stay.

To save some extra money, sign up to Expedia’s free travel rewards programme, One Key, to save 10% or more on over 100,000 hotels and up to 25% when you add a hotel after booking a flight.

Meanwhile, Booking.com is offering savings of 15% or more when you book and stay by 7 January 2025.

If you’re looking for a more luxurious holiday package as a special treat, companies such as TUI, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have some savings and offers available now for popular destinations such as New York, Dubai and Greece.

Here’s a closer look at a few of them…

New York

For those who love a city break, the Big Apple is the ultimate holiday destination, welcoming tens of millions of tourists each year.

And 2025 might be the year to do it, as British Airways is currently offering return flights and accommodation in New York City for £599 per person.

The price is for a three-night stay in the OYO Times Square, flying out on February 10 2025 and returning on February 13. The price includes checked baggage too.

For other destinations in the USA, British Airways is also offering up to £100 off fly-drive holidays to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Houston, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Portland, and Raleigh.

Prices start from £619 per person and include flights and seven-day car hire. Book before midnight on December 9 to take advantage of this deal.

Dubai

The Middle East is rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after holiday destinations for Brits, offering something for those who are looking for both culture and luxury.

If you want to check out this trendy destination on your next holiday, British Airways is offering flights and a three-night stay in Dubai for £554 per person for September 1-5 next year.

If you can’t wait until autumn for your next getaway, Virgin Atlantic is offering four nights in Dubai for £626 per person, departing from London Heathrow on March 2.

Spain

Spain has long been a top European holiday destination for Brits, offering both city breaks in destinations such as Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia, as well as beach holidays along the coast and in the Balearic Islands.

If you’ve been before and loved it, or fancy seeing what all the fuss is about, TUI is offering getaways to holiday hotspots across Spain from £189 per person.

The price includes flights and at least four nights’ accommodation, but depending on the package you opt for you might have to spend more for checked luggage or full board options.

Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are part of Spain, but they offer warmer weather for more of the year compared to the mainland, thanks to their positioning off the coast of northwestern Africa.

For a last-minute getaway, EasyJet is offering several all-inclusive holidays to the Canary Islands in December from as little as £269 per person.

The price includes flights, seven nights accommodation, 23kg of checked baggage and transfers to and from the airport.

Five-star options start at just £306 per person.

Greece

Greece is another one of the most popular holiday destinations for British holidaymakers, with its many islands offering beautiful beaches and clear water for sun worshippers, while there’s plenty of fun to be had on the party islands too – if you’re that way inclined.

You can get your summer holiday ticked off early in 2025, as Thomas Cook is offering seven-night stays in a selection of five-star resorts during May, with prices starting from as little as £333 per person.
