Desperate search for British tourist Ben Ross missing for a week in Majorca

A British mum has launched a desperate search for her son after he vanished during a working holiday to Spain earlier this month.

Ben Ross, 26, cut communications with his mother Felix Robinson after his flatmates in Palma City threatened to have him evicted following a row at the flat.

He had recently travelled to Majorca when securing a job at a local energy company after deciding to take a break from his studies.

During a recent trip to the beach, the trainee barrister from Golborne, Wigan, had his bag stolen and was left without his phone, money and cash.

After reporting the theft on the evening of July 6, he broke into his flat after temporarily becoming lost as his flatmates refused to open the door not knowing who was knocking so late.

Carla Speight, who set up a GoFundMe on behalf of Ben’s mother, said: “Ben broke into the apartment out of desperation, to be met with aggrieved flatmates who since the incident threatened to evict him.

“On the 10th July, police were called about this incident to be told they wouldn’t intervene as Ben had offered to pay for any damages and explained the extenuating circumstances.

“One of the flatmates is then alleged to have threatened Ben with two men who will ‘sort him out’ and ‘remove him’ before the weekend, information that has further increased Felix’s worries for the wellbeing of her son.”

Ms Speight said Felix and Ben had been working to secure him funds to pay for food and alternative accommodation with his bank but issues with the system added to the Brit’s mental state, who suddenly cut off communications with his mother after sending her a “peculiar” email.

Ben’s mother is now raising funds to cover travel costs to Majorca for herself and Ben’s sister to search for him as she launched an appeal for help.

Felix said: “Like any mother, no matter what age your children are, they are still your children. I just need to know my son is safe and well.

“The last few days have been torture. Please, if anyone has seen Ben, even if it’s just for a second, let the authorities know. We need to find him.”

Ben’s family is being supported by LBT Global, the same charity involved in the search for Jay Slater.

The Foreign Office are supporting Felix and they are “in contact with local authorities.”
