Four rising British tennis stars to look out for in 2025
Many people making tennis predictions at crypto sweepstakes casinos will naturally gravitate towards Katie Boulter. She’s currently the highest-ranked British player on the WTA rankings. Her current ranking of 24 is one below her best-ever position of 23. She comes from a family with a tennis pedigree as her mother and grandmother played the racquet sport at county level.
Although she’s never won a Grand Slam title, she has three WTA tour titles. She’s won the Nottingham Open twice and the San Diego Open. Boulter also made it to the Hong Kong Open final in November 2024 but lost to Diana Shnaider. Her first title came in 2023, which helped solidify her position within the top 50. However, in 2024, Boulter started to progress, making the top 25 with two titles and a final, ensuring she has the potential to breach the top 10.
Boulter is also a doubles player but is less accomplished on the circuit. Her career-high ranking in doubles is No 287. She has claimed four titles thus far, but all on the ITF tour, which isn’t as prestigious.
Top British Tennis Players – Emma Raducanu
Emma Raducanu is one unique player in women’s tennis. Having a high potential ceiling. Raducanu is currently seen as an underachieving player, but that’s an unfair label. She is a victim of her success, and after hitting the top 10 at the age of 20, her current position of 57 in the rankings is seen as a downgrade.
Despite Raducanu’s unfair treatment, she’s still a top player. Her 2021 win in the US Open shows her ability, which is why many feel she could do better. However, Raducanu has had injury issues, a common complaint with players who break through when young. If she can get past these problems, she will likely mature into one of the best players of her generation.
Her ranking of 57 is a good showing despite being well below her best position. For most of 2023, she was out due to multiple surgeries. At the start of 2024, she dropped out of the top 300 in the women’s singles rankings. By July, she had made it back into the top 100, and a loss to one of the greatest players of this generation, Iga Swiatek, stopped her from breaking the top 50. If Raducanu can stay fit, expect her to break the top 10 in 2025.
Up and Coming Tennis Players – Jodie Burrage
Jodie Burrage is older than Emma Raducanu but has less tour experience. Despite being three years older, she made her debut two years later, meaning she’s not as far ahead in her development. Burrage hasn’t managed to add consistency to her game yet, which shows the wild disparity between her positions on the rankings. Her best position came in March 2024, when she cracked the top 100 and reached 85th place. However, she’s struggled somewhat since then and has dropped below the top 150.
She’s steadily improved since first breaking onto the scene. In 2021, she hit the first qualifying round in the French Open. Since then, she’s managed the second round proper at Wimbledon and the US Open. It shows that Burrage has a lot of potential, and if she continues to improve, she could crack the top 50.
Burrage hasn’t won a WTA singles title yet, which is what’s stopping her from significantly jumping in the rankings. However, she’s won 5 ITF titles and a WTA doubles title, showing she has the potential to step up. What’s genuinely seen her struggle in 2024 is injury problems, as she missed almost six months of the year with ankle issues. If Burrage can overcome it in 2025, expect her to challenge the top 50.
Up and Coming Tennis Players – Jack Draper
Jack Draper is a player with the world at his feet. At 22, his best years are in front of him, and he has the physical attributes to dominate the tour. His reach is impressive due to his standing at 6’4, which allows him to get around the court quickly. Draper has hit world No 15 as his best position in the ATP men’s rankings, and arguably, only injury has stopped him from cracking the top 10.
2024 saw his best performance as he made the semi-final of the US Open. What makes it more impressive is that he lost to Jannik Sinner, the top-ranked player in the world. Draper has won two titles on the ATP Tour, the Stuttgart Open and the Vienna Open, in 2024.
His doubles performance isn’t as impressive, with no titles and a top ranking of 247th. Draper is focusing his energy on the singles circuit. If he can stay healthy in 2025, he has an excellent chance of making the top 10 and winning his first Grand Slam.
