“Great British Baking Show”’s Dame Prue Leith censored on “Live” for profane description of King Charles’ tea preference
The 84-year-old joined Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos for a cooking segment, during which she profanely described how King Charles likes his tea.
The Great British Baking Show star Dame Prue Leith just served up a piping description of King Charles’ tea preference that ended up being too hot for morning TV.
Amid a cozy cooking segment on Thursday morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark (watch in the video above), the 84-year-old comically recalled a moment she flubbed the late Queen Elizabeth’s tea order while previously serving the British royal, prompting Kelly Ripa to inquire about how other members of the family prefer their cups.
“How does King Charles take his tea?” Ripa asked, to which Leith responded: “Um, I should think he probably likes it, um, what my husband would call… perhaps I can’t say this on morning television.”

Ripa urged her to “say whatever you want” on the air, and Leith hilariously obliged: “Hippie s—” she appeared to say, while a pink oval popped up over her mouth to obscure her lips.
“Love that,” Ripa said as the audience laughed. “Yeah, I love it. I love it!” Mark Consuelos added.
“Prue, I’ll tell you one thing, you are an American treasure, let me just say that,” Ripa observed, while Leith said she wanted to further explain her answer.
“Let me just explain,” she said. “I really don’t know how what used to be Prince Charles, now King Charles, likes his tea, but he’s very green, and very concerned about the environment, so perhaps he’d like chamomile tea or one of those hippie teas!”
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to a representative for Live for confirmation on Leith’s choice of words.
