Jet2 customers flying out of UK airport this week warned to ‘allow extra time’
Jet2 has warned travellers that traffic restrictions could affect key access routes to a major UK airport this week.
Holidaymakers heading to East Midlands Airport near Nottingham and Loughborough have been told there will be overnight road closures during weekday nights, with two key slip roads affected, the carrier said in a statement.
“We wanted to advise you of road closures surrounding East Midlands Airport, from November 4 to 11, between the hours of 20:00 to 05:00, Monday to Friday,” the low-cost airline said.
This includes the slip road from the Moto services roundabout to the M1 and A42 and the slip road from the M1 to the A42.
“If you’re affected, please allow extra time for your journey to the airport as we’re operating all our flights as scheduled. Please arrive at the airport at least two hours before your departure time,” the statement read, adding: “Check-in closes 40 minutes before a flight’s departure time.”
Guidance for all Jet2 passengers continues to advise checking the company’s website for any relevant updates “at least 12 hours before your flight for the latest flight information.”
You can find find the latest information on the status of the flight using your flight number or route.
“In the event of flight disruption our dedicated Operations teams are working hard behind the scenes at our UK-based HQ to get you on your way as soon as possible,” Jet2 says.
Last month, Jet2CityBreaks, a subsidiary of the company, revealed two new holiday destinations in Slovakia and Sweden in response to “strong demand” from UK holidaymakers.
Just in time for the Christmas markets, the firm unveiled packages to Bratislava in Slovakia, and Malmo in Sweden.
Those who choose Bratislava will be flown to Vienna Airport and transferred over the border, which is about a one hour drive, to explore its charming old town and historical sites.
Packages are on sale until May 19, 2025, with twice weekly services on Monday and Friday from Manchester and Birmingham airport.
Flights will be ramped up over the festive period and customers will be able to fly from nine UK airports in November and December 2024.
Festive packages to Malmo have also gone on sale from November 29 until December 23, 2024, with flights two days a week from Leeds Bradford or Newcastle International airport.
Customers will land in Copenhagen before catching a direct train over the Oresund Bridge that links Denmark with Sweden.
