Six … count ’em SIX … Americans have made the quarterfinals in Auckland.
Hailey Baptiste is the latest to reach the last eight following her 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (8/6) win over Briton Jodie Burrage after almost three hours on court.
The task won’t be easy for Baptiste in the quarters, however, as her opponent is former world number one Naomi Osaka.
Osaka has been in solid form this week, having not dropped a set in the tournament.
United Cup: Świątek grabs double break against Boulter
Iga Świątek has again broken Katie Boulter’s serve in the second set.
She will serve at 3-0.
Losing the first set clearly stung Świątek, who will clinch the quarterfinal for Poland if she can get past Boulter.
Brisbane International: Sabalenka continues her charge
World number one Aryna Sabalenka is on court for her round-of-16 match against 15th seed Yulia Putintseva in Brisbane.
The two-time defending Australian Open champion held serve in the opening game.

After dropping the first set, Iga Świątek has made the best possible start to the second.
The Pole broke Katie Boulter’s serve in the opening game and then held for a 2-0 lead.

Katie Boulter has fought back from 1-4 down to win the first set against Iga Świątek in Great Britain’s quarterfinal against Poland.
Boulter won the tie-break 7-4, converting on her first set point as the British supporters inside Ken Rosewall Arena erupted.
Poland lead the quarterfinal 1-0 after winning the opening singles rubber via Hubert Hurkacz.
United Cup: Świątek, Boulter face off in tie-break
Katie Boulter is refusing to be intimidated by five-time major champion Iga Świątek in Great Britain’s quarterfinal against Poland.
The first set will be decided by a tie-break after Boulter and Świątek exchanged service breaks.
Brisbane International: Djokovic ices win over Monfils
Novak Djokovic has reached the quarterfinals in Brisbane via a straight-sets win over Gaël Monfils.
Three service breaks acted as the backbone for Djokovic’s 6-3, 6-3 win over the Frenchman.
Djokovic next meets Reilly Opelka, with their quarterfinal scheduled for Friday night.

Novak Djokovic can see the finish line in sight.
He leads Gaël Monfils 6-3, 3-2, with a break up his sleeve in the second set.
United Cup: Boulter gets the break back
Credit to the fighting qualities of Katie Boulter, as the Briton breaks Iga Świątek’s serve for the first time this match.
Games are now back on serve in the opening set.
Boulter will serve at 3-4.
Brisbane International: Djokovic takes first set against Monfils
Novak Djokovic is a set away from recording his 20th consecutive career win over French veteran Gaël Monfils.
Djokovic secured a single service break in the first set, which he won 6-3 in 36 minutes.
United Cup: Świątek survives scare on serve
Iga Świątek leads Katie Boulter 3-0 in the first set, but she was made to work hard in her most recent service game.
Boulter had four break-point opportunities on the Świątek serve during a marathon game lasting 13 minutes and 28 seconds.,
However, the Brit failed to capitalise and Świątek was able to move out to a comfortable first-set lead.
Brisbane International: Bouzková ends Azarenka’s run
Czechia’s Marie Bouzková has beaten two-time Brisbane International champion Victoria Azarenka in the round of 16.
Marie Bouzková won 6-4, 6-4 over the 10th seed, who was the inaugural women’s tournament winner in 2009.
Azarenka also won the title in 2016.
In the quarterfinals, Bouzková will face the victor of this evening’s match between world number one Aryna Sabalenka and 15th seed Yulia Putintseva.
United Cup: Świątek facing Boulter
Play is underway in Sydney in the singles rubber between Poland’s Iga Świątek and her British opponent Katie Boulter.
Świątek held serve in the opening game of the match, before breaking Boulter to establish a 2-0 lead.
Poland leads the quarterfinal 1-0.
The winner will play Kazakhstan in the semis.
Brisbane International: Monfils still searching for first win over Djokovic
Gaël Monfils is on court against Novak Djokovic for the 20th time in their careers.
At 0-19, the Frenchman is still searching for his first win over the 24-time major champion.
Will tonight be his night?
And if he wins, will he paraphrase the late Vitas Gerulatis in his post-match media conference?
Too early to tell, as it’s 2-1 to Djokovic in the first set, with games on serve.
United Cup: Poland goes 1-0 up against Great Britain
Hubert Hurkacz has given Poland the early advantage in its United Cup quarterfinal against Great Britain.
Hurkacz defeated Billy Harris in the opening singles rubber, 7-6 (7/3), 7-5.
Next up is Poland’s five-time major singles winner Iga Świątek in her singles match against Katie Boulter.
Auckland Open: Another American through to the QFs
We mentioned earlier the US were dominating the quarterfinal berths in Auckland.
The number has grown from four to five, with Alycia Parks the latest to get through.
Parks defeated her Belgian opponent Greet Minnen 7-5, 6-3 in the round of 16.
She will meet compatriot Katie Volynets in the quarters.
Brisbane International: Jabeur prevails in three
Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur has defeated Armenian Elina Avanesyan in three sets.
In a match lasting almost two hours, Jabeur came out on top 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
The former world number two — a three-time singles finalist at the majors — plays Russian 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals.

With the opening singles rubber in progress, Poland is eyeing off a 1-0 scoreline against Great Britain.
Hubert Hurkacz claimed the first set against Billy Harris via a tie-break (7-3).
The winner of this evening’s quarterfinal tie will play Kazakhstan in the last four.

The Sydney-based United Cup quarterfinals have made a start.
Poland is facing Great Britain this evening at Ken Rosewall Arena.

Italy and Czechia will contest the second Sydney semifinal on Friday.
Brisbane International: Mpetshi Perricard takes down Tiafoe
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard’s stellar run in Brisbane shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.
The French talent is through to the quarterfinals after defeating fourth-seeded American Frances Tiafoe 6-4, 7-6 (7/4).
The 21-year-old will next play Jakub Menšík of Czechia.
