Monkey Tilt raises $30m to push online gaming “into new era”
Monkey Tilt, a crypto-focused online gambling platform launched in March 2024, has closed a $30m Series A funding round.
The round, which concluded over the summer, was led by California-based Pantera Capital with participation from Polychain Capital, PokerGo, Hack VC, Dream Ventures, Accomplice, Mirana, and individual investor Josh Hannah.
The new funding brings the company’s total capital raised to over $50m.
Monkey Tilt offers a mix of traditional casino games, including dealer-led craps and roulette, alongside a 24/7 sportsbook and other gaming options.
The platform also features a cryptocurrency payment system that supports multiple digital assets, providing users with flexibility in how they wager and play.
Monkey Tilt aims to appeal to both experienced gamblers and newcomers by offering a modernised gaming environment with social and lifestyle features.
“The reality is this industry has failed to keep up with how people want to game, connect, and interact,” said founder and CEO Sam Kiki (pictured), who brings experience from previous operational roles at MGM Resorts and Caesars Interactive to his vision of modernising online gaming.
“What we’re creating is immersive, engaging, and culturally relevant – and everyone is recognising it,” he added.
Investment and growth
Since its launch, Monkey Tilt has built a user base drawn to its blend of casino games, sports betting, and cryptocurrency integration.
Investors, including Pantera Capital, have expressed confidence in the company’s potential.
“Monkey Tilt is pushing the online gaming world into a new era that’s heads and shoulders above the rest of the market,” said Ryan Barney of Pantera Capital.
“Sam has already proven to be an authoritative leader in this space, and we’re so proud to back a platform that’s genuinely shaping the future of entertainment.”
Plans for 2025
Looking ahead, Monkey Tilt is preparing to launch a new gamified crypto trading product in early 2025.
The company said the new offering will aim to broaden its appeal among different types of users while continuing to expand its platform.
Monkey Tilt describes itself as an entertainment-focused gaming platform that leverages blockchain technology to enhance user experience.
The company positions itself as a lifestyle brand, extending its presence beyond gaming into areas such as fashion and media.
VC attention
Monkey Tilt is part of a larger trend of venture capital-backed online casinos entering the market.
In March, crypto operator MyPrize launched its online casino platform in international markets, along with a sweepstakes platform for US users.
The platform features integrated live streaming and multiplayer gameplay, allowing users to interact with content creators in dedicated rooms.
The start-up has secured substantial backing from Silicon Valley venture capital firms, totalling $13m over two funding rounds, propelling the company to a total enterprise value of $140m.
