Much-loved Glasgow gift shop named among UK’s 100 ‘most impressive’ small firms
A MUCH-loved Glasgow gift shop has been named among the UK’s top 100 “most impressive” small firms.
The SmallBiz100 line-up highlights 100 small businesses leading up to Small Business Saturday on December 7.
The grassroots campaign encourages consumers to “shop local” and support shops in their communities.
The campaign has named Sunshine No.1 on Cathcart Road, Mount Florida, as one of the most impressive firms following a nationwide search.
Everything sold in the independent art, gift and card shop has been created by artists and makers living in Scotland.
The business was founded by Suzi Nicol in 2015.
She told of her joy at being recognised as part of the initiative.
Suzi told Glasgow Live: “I’m absolutely thrilled and excited to be selected as one of this year’s SmallBiz100 businesses.
“It’s a real honour to be chosen alongside so many other incredible small businesses.
“It’s an amazing recognition of our hard work and passion for what we do in supporting and promoting Scottish artists and makers, plus a brilliant opportunity to connect with other innovative and inspiring small businesses from across the UK.
“It’s also exciting to be more closely involved with the fantastic Small Business Saturday campaign and community.”
Loyal customers and locals flocked to social media to congratulate Suzi on the exciting news.
One wrote: “I’m not that shocked, but certainly I’m delighted for you, you well and truly deserve it. Many congratulations.”
Another said: “Brilliant, very well deserved. Congratulations!”
A third added: “That’s amazing, congratulations! Clearly testament to the heart and soul you put into it.”
A fourth put: “Mega congratulations! We all love Sunshine No.1 and are so glad we have this business in our little corner of the world!”
