One of the best British horror films of all time is now streaming for free

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year is a British horror that has also been labelled a rom-zom-com.

Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg’s Shaun of the Dead was the first movie from the team behind cult TV sitcom Spaced.

Lampooning the American zombie apocalypse movies of George A Romero, Shaun of the Dead imagined an undead uprising in suburban Greater London with a comic twist.

The film was critically and financially successful, going to be nominated for two British Academy Film Awards and launched the Hollywood careers of Wright, Pegg and Nick Frost respectively.

The first in their Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy of British horror comedies was then followed by Hot Fuzz and The World’s End.

Although unconnected, each film was directed by Wright, starred Pegg and Frost and featured a Cornetto ice cream cone: Strawberry for Shaun of the Dead, Classico for Hot Fuzz and Mint in The World’s End.

Shaun of the Dead is now streaming for free on ITVX and is also available on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

The film is also being re-released in UK cinemas for its 20th anniversary from September 27, 2024.
