Scottish football: Leaders Celtic eventually ease to win; Dundee secure top six

Super second half seals it for Celticpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 13 April

FT: Celtic 3-0 St Mirren

This was a little Jekyll and Hyde from Celtic but the champions sent their fans home very happy after a super second half display made them forget all about the lethargy and lack of quality in the first.

Three good goals, plenty of other chances; creativity, verve, energy, clinical finishing. The second half had it all for Celtic, who’ll happily draw a discreet veil over the first.

It brings things to the boil very nicely for Brendan Rodgers’ men: a four point lead at the top of the table tonight and a full week to prepare for a Scottish Cup semi-final with Aberdeen.

As for St Mirren: a tale of two halves, pretty much like Celtic.

They were sharp, disciplined and organised in the first half and easily repelled everything Celtic threw at them. They were dangerous on the break, too. They had no answer, however, to Celtic upping the tempo after the break.
