The incredible stat to prove Wrexham are having one of the best season start of any British club in 2024/25 | Sporting News United Kingdom
Usually, clubs that climb the ladder of European football as fast as Wrexham have eventually hit the brakes when they’ve overreached their current skill level, but the Red Dragons have yet to reach that point, enjoying yet another strong start to a campaign in 2024/25.
Competing in League One this season, the third tier of English football, Wrexham are second in the table after 10 matches, just two points behind first-place Birmingham City. Their latest result saw them hand Northampton Town a 4-1 defeat, moving them level with Mansfield Town on 20 points although they have played one more match.
Hoping to secure a third straight promotion, it’s a hot beginning to life in the highest level the club has competed in since 2005.

Yet beyond that, they’ve done something no other club at any level of English professional football has done. According to X account The Wrexham Lowdown, Wrexham are the only club amongst the 92 teams in the top four tiers of English football who have scored a goal not just in each home game, but in each half of every home game thus far into the season.
To add an exclamation point to that number, they’ve also accomplished that feat in their only home cup match to date, having beaten Salford City 2-1 in the group stage of the EFL Trophy.

Unfortunately, road results have not been up to the same level, as they have been beaten by Stevenage and Birmingham both away from home, plus draws with Leyton Orient and Bolton as well.
New striker Jack Marriott, who joined only last January, has been on fire, leading the club with four goals already. Yet it’s been a team effort up front, with Elliot Lee and Max Cleworth both on three goals, while longtime striker Ollie Palmer has two of his own. Paul Mullin has been reduced to a bit-part role, without a goal in seven league appearances, six of those coming off the bench, but has picked one up in the aforementioned EFL Trophy game.
