Two bakers leave the tent in Great British Bake Off’s Biscuit Week

Two amateur bakers depart The Great British Bake Off following Biscuit Week.

Two amateur bakers departed the tent tonight during The Great British Bake Off‘s Biscuit Week.

The competition began in earnest last week but judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith decided not to send anyone home as John had been taken ill during filming.

John was back in the tent this week but only got as far as the technical, at which point he took the decision to withdraw from the show as he was still feeling unwell.

“I am fine, but this time around it just wasn’t right for me,” he said. “I have really enjoyed it, everyone has been wonderful, there’s a great group of bakers in there. I didn’t make it very far, but there you go. It was wonderful so thank you very much.”

At the end of the episode, Sumayah was named this week’s Star Baker, but it was less happy news for Hazel, who was told that she would be leaving the tent.

“That’s ok,” she said afterwards. “I did expect it, all my bakes went wrong. Maybe I won’t make biscuit puppet theatres anymore!”

The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
